We are never lacking in methods and skills, but in motivation.

Updated: May 23

A fact I just understand after spending so much time learning all sort of skill and endlessly analyzing my self, it is:

We are never lacking in methods and skills, but in motivation.

Once the motivation is there, methods and skills will come along.

The examples

Just like the example of the Wright brothers, with no resources, ultimately succeed in flying an airplane while others at the same time with abundant resources did not? Because they had faith and they loved what they were doing, so they were able to continuously try and overcome all difficulties. Others saw flying an airplane merely as a means to gain fame and money, so they were not as dedicated and meticulous as the Wright brothers, and ultimately failed.

Or take ordinary people as example. Some people are very busy and tired at work, have little time for themselves, but still set aside time to study every day and gradually make significant changes. While some people work from nine to five, have relaxed jobs, but still constantly complain that there is no room for advancement in the company, blaming their job content and atmosphere for ruining them.

All these, in my opinion, are the problem I mentioned at the beginning, people are not lacking in methods and skills, but in motivation.

The magic trick does not exist.

There’s a popular idea hidden in people’s mind that there must be some magic trick in this world. If you know this information, this method, it can bring about immediate changes. If what you learn does not meet this expectation, then you must not have found the real magic pill, so you continue to search and repeat the process. Even if you really find this magic trick, if you lack the psychological motivation, can you still use it?

When there is a lack of motivation in the heart, and there is no ignition process, no matter how many chariots are in front of you, they are useless.

The moment of change is emotional, not intellectual

I now believe the real moment of great change in a person never comes from methodology, but from emotional, experiential feelings and disturbances. It’s the feeling of being injected with a shot of adrenaline. It’s the excitement and suddenness of first love, the joy of being rescued. It’s the waves stirred up by a big stone thrown onto a calm lake.

It is a process of ignition, of energy injection.

Some time ago, when I looked at various successful cases, I often preferred to observe what this person did, what elements they had, and how they succeeded. So I could imitate and do the same. Now I’ve changed that. I see in the end, the real key to the success of all those who are successful in the worldly sense, is only one thing: What kind of motivation they have.

Is it no longer wanting to associate with certain people, an infinite longing for freedom, for the people they love, or just wanting to win once. Any reason is fine, but it must be a deep emotional feeling. In this feeling, a person is from the heart, closest to themselves, a strong emotional surge.

All actions start with emotional experience, not methods and skills.

Take our emotions seriously

So, to a conclusion, when a person is in a stagnant period, in a painful stage of wanting but not getting, in a low and depressed mood. The most important action at this time is not to add more to themselves, such as to study or to fill their life with things, but to calm down, observe their own feelings, perceive themselves, and take their emotions seriously.

Let this force within oneself be seen, let them have the chance to grow. This is the most important action to find new motivation to go on.
